The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is bringing a deeply moving experience to Dahlonega, Georgia, on October 31st, 2024. A three-quarter-scale replica of the iconic Vietnam Veterans Memorial and a Mobile Education Center will be available for visitors at the University of North Georgia. Known as “The Wall That Heals,” this traveling exhibit has touched over 700 communities since 1996, offering local veterans and visitors alike the chance to honor the three million Americans who served in the Vietnam War.
This remarkable replica, standing 375 feet long, bears the names of 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. It offers a solemn and intimate space for reflection, where stories of service and loss are etched into every name. Open 24/7 and free to the public from October 31st to November 3rd, the exhibit provides a rare opportunity to connect with this chapter of history on a personal level.
The accompanying Mobile Education Center, housed in a 53-foot trailer, includes digital displays, videos, and educational exhibits that tell the story of the Vietnam War and its profound impact on American society. Visitors will also find a replica of the “In Memory” plaque, which honors those who died as a result of the war long after its end.
