FRANK CLAYTON started Clayton Dental in 2003 with four things: a passion for dentistry, a love for learning, a desire to master the craft, and a dream to serve the people within his community. Fast forward 21 years, and it’s safe to say Dr. Clayton’s goals have become a reality.
He is now the owner of a successful dental office where he provides top-of-the-line dental care and cosmetic assistance. His compassion for both his patients and his staff remains his motivation to keep working, and his business undoubtedly makes Suwanee a better place.
A Customer-Focused Practice
Clayton Dental is more than just a place to get one’s teeth cleaned; it’s a business that puts its customers at the forefront of its practice. The reason it remains one of the most successful dental offices in the region is because of its impeccable staff, friendly environment, and motivated owner. For example, one of the slogans on their website is “patients don’t wait here” — and that’s not just a recruitment tactic. When asked what differentiates his office from others in the area, Dr. Clayton says, “We actually run on time because we value people’s time. I ask my staff to go above and beyond what patients expect no matter what we do, so everybody here understands the level of excellence that is expected by me, and they constantly exceed it — that’s the key.” Upon walking inside, patients are met with a pleasant team of dental hygienists, dental assistants, sterile technicians, and front desk receptionists. Every member of the Clayton Dental team is skilled, intelligent, personable, and helpful; it’s these traits that comfort incoming patients and provide a positive environment for dental check-ups.
A Passion for Helping Others
Dr. Clayton, a Marietta native and University of North Carolina’s Adams School of Dentistry alumnus, credits the inspiration for his career to his father-in-law, a facial plastic surgeon who “suggested that I take a look at dentistry because I wanted to blend business and science; dentistry is an excellent combination of both,” so that’s exactly what he did. However, Dr. Clayton is more than just a fan of cleaning people’s teeth, he’s also passionate about helping others excel both within his company and outside of it. He says, “Watching others grow and exceed what they’ve ever thought they could achieve has been the most rewarding part. I’m big on leadership and on people thriving at what they do, whether it’s dental or not. I really like trying to get people to go way beyond their comfort zone and fulfilling their goals/dreams.”
A man of many accomplishments, Dr. Clayton is a dentist, business owner, author, mentor, entrepreneur, and member of several dental associations, including the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. He is also the founder of the Atlanta Center for Dental Excellence, an advocate for giving back to the whole dental industry. “In addition to dentistry, I consult with other dentists, dental companies, and dental business banks regarding business efforts, marketing strategies, and elevating the dental industry. I try to reach beyond this office and into the business/dental community.”
Clayton Dental’s success is undeniable, and although Dr. Clayton is convinced the reason for that is because he “passes out a lot of chocolate and Starbucks gift cards to his patients, so they’re caffeinated, sugared up, and happy,” it’s the business’s dedication to their customers, mastering the craft, and redefining dentistry that sets them apart from the rest. Dr. Clayton believes “there’s always stuff to learn,” and his goal — both personally and professionally — is “to keep the excellence and care that [Clayton Dental] gives; to maintain the culture that we have set.” Clayton Dental’s ability to put care at the center of its practice is motivated by the following idea: “Teeth can get boring; it’s the people behind the teeth that matter. Making a personal connection with the community of people we serve is what makes getting up in the morning and heading to work worth it.”
