The spookiest time of year is upon us! There’s no shortage of ways to celebrate all things Halloween around town this year — both family-friendly and adults-only — so take a break from the pumpkin patches, don your costumes and have some festive fun at one of these events.

The event takes place in Sims Lake Park and is geared towards children ages 10 and younger. Families are encouraged to dress up in costumes and can participate in fall-themed games, contests, music, inflatables and more. Hours are 2-4pm. Sims Lake Park, 4600 Suwanee Dam Road, Suwanee.

Duluth Howl on the Green | October 26

Lawrenceville Spooktacular on the Square | October 26
Spend the evening trick-or-treating at businesses located around Downtown Lawrenceville or grab a Spooktacular drink from one of the local restaurants. The city will also host ghost tours, family-friendly zombie walks, and other kid-friendly activities.

Paranormal Party | October 27
Gwinnett’s biggest adults-only Halloween Costume Party features live music from AC/DC tribute band Back-N-Black (9-11pm) and DJ Eddie Matos (11pm-close). There will also be free psychic readings, tarot card readings, a $1,000 prize for best costume (in addition to other awards), and drink specials. 9pm-2am. Tannery Row Ale House, 554 West Main St., Buford.

Boo at the Zoo | October 27 and 28
The Atlanta Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo is fun for all ages. Visitors can sample treats throughout the zoo (don’t forget to wear your costume!), spend time in the magical Zoo Boo Town, and find their way through inflatable corn mazes, all while surrounded by more than 1,000 animals from around the world. 9am-3pm. Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave. S.E., Atlanta.

Stone Mountain Park Pumpkin Festival | Through October 28
Stone Mountain’s Pumpkin Festival has quickly become a family-favorite event. Take in the beautiful autumn scenery as you hike up the mountain, and then spend the rest of the day enjoying the kids carnival, adventure tales story-telling, pie eating contests, and the dance-along party parade. This year the park also features a glowing family experience with thousands of jack-o-lanterns lighting up the park each night. Through Oct. 28. Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E Lee Blvd., Stone Mountain.

Netherworld | Through November 4
Consistently voted one of the top haunts in the nation, Netherworld expands its reign of terror by moving to a new location in Stone Mountain. While the setting may be different, visitors can expect the same level of scares that have sent metro Atlantans running home to their mommies for the past two decades. A Halloween rite of passage for those brave enough to enter, Netherworld introduces a new main attraction for 2018, “The Awakened,” in which re-awakened mummies chase unsuspecting (and unwanted) visitors through ancient settings. But don’t expect the same mummies Brendan Fraser was playing tag with in the ’90s, these are real gnarly creatures you don’t want to mess with. Netherworld isn’t for the faint of heart, but it’s a fun night out for those who enjoy a good scare. Oct. 4-31 and Nov. 1-4. Sunday-Thursday, 7:30-10:30 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 7 p.m.-midnight. 2076 West Park Place Blvd., Stone Mountain.
