Summer in Georgia means getting outside to kick a ball around with friends, exploring nature, or finding a cool body of water to splash around in! When you’re thinking of your next place to play, visit Sugar Hill to explore the newly renovated Gary Pirkle Park and everyone’s favorite free, family-friendly Splash Park in downtown.
Gary Pirkle Park features 67 acres of land with Richland Creek running through the area. The park has six synthetic turf fields, a giant playground under a 90-foot solar-powered pavilion, 1.7 miles of paved and lighted walking trails and benches, viewing grandstands, public Wi-Fi, restrooms, two concession facilities, picnic pavilions, and a community garden. The park’s two natural grass fields were recently replaced with high-quality synthetic turf making it the largest synthetic outdoor turf facility in the Southeast. With all this excellent green space, grab some friends and come out to Gary Pirkle Park for a day of fun in the fresh air!
After working up a sweat at Gary Pirkle Park, visit downtown to cool off at the Splash Park at Sugar Hill. Located behind City Hall and The Bowl at Sugar Hill off West Broad Street, the Splash Park is a 60 foot in diameter water feature with LED lighting and more than 90 spray nozzles for nonstop fun to beat the heat. The Splash Park opens annually in April (weather permitting) and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until late September. The Splash Park is subject to close due to maintenance, inclement weather, or special events at any time. It is strongly recommended to check the City’s social media accounts and website before visiting to ensure that the Splash Park is open for guests.
