Wednesday, March 2nd was the 19th annual National Education Association (NEA) Read Across America Day. NEA’s Read Across America Day celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the joys of reading. For the event, Suwanee Elementary played host to Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal who visited the school and read Dr. Seuss books to students. The year-round program, Read Across America, focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships and reading resources. The National Education Association is the nation’s largest professional employee organization, representing 3.2 million elementary and secondary teachers, college faculty, school administrators, education support professionals, retired educators and students preparing to become teachers.
