It’s the new year, which means many of us are reevaluating our finances, jobs, eating habits and, of course, our fitness. Will this be the year we finally get it right? With news that 80% of New Year’s Resolutions fail, maybe it’s time to take the road less traveled as we set off to achieving “new year, new me” status. For our annual Fitness Issue, we sought local ways to get fit outside the walls of a traditional gym setting. We decided to step off the elliptical and put down the dumbbells in exchange for opportunities that would take us outside our comfort zones. And while there’s nothing wrong with the traditional gym setting, we wanted to try something new, and have some fun while doing it.
Here, we’ve spotlighted alternative ways to get fit. From yoga classes that will have you hanging from silks or frolicking with goats to kickboxing, rock climbing and outdoor bootcamps, there’s no shortage of ways to work up a good sweat around town.
